Replacing an older entrance door
An entrance door may still close while allowing draughts around the frame, dragging across the threshold or becoming increasingly difficult to lock. Sun and coastal exposure can also affect finishes, seals and hardware over time.
Danny checks the complete opening before recommending replacement. The door leaf is only one part of the assembly. The frame, threshold, hinges, glazing, locking points and installation all affect how the entrance operates and how securely it closes.
Security, glazing and privacy
The right specification depends on the position of the entrance and how visible it is from inside and outside the property.

Aluminium or PVC entrance doors
Aluminium provides strength, stable operation and a broad choice of durable finishes. PVC can provide strong insulation and sealing for more conventional openings. The material is selected around the size, exposure, appearance and performance required rather than treated as a cosmetic choice.
A door exposed to strong afternoon sun or driving rain needs different consideration from a sheltered apartment entrance. Colour and finish also need to work with the surrounding windows and any community requirements.
Thresholds and access
The existing floor levels determine what threshold detail is possible. A lower threshold may make everyday access easier but weather protection and drainage still need to be considered. Surrounding stone, tiles or render can affect how the old frame is removed and how the new one is finished.

Older openings are not always square and a reliable quotation needs more than a width and height sent by message. During the site visit Danny checks the opening, frame condition, floor levels, access and the finishes around the door.
