Aluminium window repairs

Aluminium is the most common window frame in Jávea, and much of it was fitted in the 1980s, 90s and 2000s. The frames often last for decades; it is the moving parts that wear out first, especially near the sea around the Arenal, the Port and Cap de Sant Antoni.

Typical aluminium window repairs we carry out:

• Replacing broken or seized handles and espagnolette mechanisms
• Fixing casement windows that have dropped and no longer close
• Replacing worn hinges, stays and friction arms
• Renewing perished gaskets and brush seals that let in draughts, dust and rain
• Clearing blocked drainage slots so water stops pooling on the sill

PVC and tilt-and-turn window repairs

PVC windows in Jávea villas and apartments are usually tilt-and-turn. When one stops working properly it is almost always the hardware or its adjustment.

• Windows stuck in tilt, or that tilt and turn at the same time
• Handles that turn but don't lock, or won't turn at all
• Sashes that rub the frame and need re-aligning on their hinges
• Worn locking cams and keeps that no longer pull the sash tight
• Replacement gaskets where the seal has shrunk or split

Most tilt-and-turn faults are fixed in a single visit with the correct gear set or an adjustment to the hinges and keeps.

Sliding window repairs

Sliding windows that are heavy, jump the track or won't lock are among the most common repair calls we get in Jávea. Sand, salt and years of use wear the rollers flat and damage the bottom track.

• Replacing worn or broken rollers
• Repairing damaged bottom tracks
• Re-adjusting panels so they meet the frame and lock again
• Replacing sliding window locks and latches
• New brush seals to stop draughts and whistling in the Levante wind

Misted double glazing and broken glass

Condensation between the two panes means the sealed unit has failed. It can't be dried out or resealed properly, but you don't need a new window: we measure and replace just the glass unit and keep the existing frame where it is sound.

• Misted or failed double-glazed units replaced
• Cracked and broken panes replaced
• Upgrades to solar-control or laminated safety glass in the same frame

If the misting is on the room-facing side of the glass, that is ordinary condensation rather than a failed unit. Our double glazing page explains the difference.

Window handles, locks and security

A window that won't lock is a security problem, particularly in holiday homes that stand empty for weeks. We replace locking handles, fit key-locking handles to ground-floor windows, and repair locking points so the window closes firmly against its seals again.
