Windows, hardware and failed glass
A window may become difficult to close because its handle, hinges, lock or alignment need attention. Sliding windows can drag when their rollers or tracks are worn or out of line.
Faults on aluminium windows include stiff handles, failed locks and sliding panels that catch or jump. Similar problems on PVC windows may involve the handle, locking points, hinges and the way the sash meets its seals.
Misting between two panes indicates failure inside the sealed glass unit. The failed unit is replaced rather than dried out or resealed, and the frame may remain after inspection. The double-glazing page explains how this differs from condensation on the room-facing surface.
Doors that drag, catch or fail to lock
A heavy sliding door may have worn rollers, a damaged track or poor alignment. Locks and handles can also fail while the frame, panels and glass remain usable. See the sliding-door repair service for faults involving movement and locking.

Persianas and mosquito nets
Persiana faults include broken straps, damaged slats, motor problems and shutters that stick or move unevenly. A failed strap, slat or motor does not necessarily require a new persiana. More focused information is available under persiana repairs.

Glass curtains and glass balustrades
Existing glass curtains may need attention when panels catch, stop stacking together or fail to close correctly. A short video is useful because it shows where the movement changes.
A fault affecting a glass balustrade must be treated as a safety matter. Danny needs to inspect the balustrade before agreeing any repair. Damaged glass, movement or loose fittings should not be treated as a DIY adjustment.
Where the glass, height, fixings or supporting structure require a structural or regulated decision, that responsibility remains with the appropriate technician or project architect. The installer does not replace that determination.
What cannot be decided from a message
Some faults can be repaired while retaining the original product. Required parts may no longer be obtainable. A damaged frame, several connected faults or a safety issue may mean replacement or technical assessment is required.
Danny will not promise a repair from photographs alone. Photographs help Danny understand the fault and decide whether a visit is needed, but they do not confirm that a repair is possible.

Information that helps
A repair message should identify:
- What has stopped working.
- The complete window, door, persiana, screen or glazed item.
- The fault at closer range where it is safe to take the picture.
- A short video when movement is the problem.
- The property location.
Do not touch, lean on or operate a damaged glass balustrade to obtain a photograph.
