The opening decides the work

A small window and a wide terrace opening at the same property may require different frames, glass or hardware. Danny does not confirm those choices before inspecting and measuring the openings.

When a window or door stops working properly

A window that will not open, stay closed or lock correctly does not automatically need replacing. The fault may involve the handle, hinges, locking mechanism or the alignment between the opening section and its frame.

Sliding doors and windows have a different set of working parts. Worn rollers, a damaged track, a failed lock or a panel that has moved out of position can make them heavy or difficult to operate.

Replacement windows for the existing opening

Where replacement is required, the first decision is how the new window needs to open and how the room is used. The frame material, glass and hardware are then specified around that decision.

Aluminium windows can suit wide openings and slimmer frame arrangements. PVC windows are often considered where firm closing and insulation are priorities. Neither material should be chosen from the label alone: the size of the opening, preferred divisions, colour, glass and surrounding finish all form part of the specification.

The quotation will identify the proposed frame, glass and hardware. Any applicable manufacturer guarantee will also be confirmed before the order is placed.

Doors
