What is inside double glazing?
A double-glazed unit contains two panes separated by a spacer. The sealed cavity between them slows heat transfer compared with single glass.
Pane thickness, cavity width, coatings and gas filling alter how the unit performs. The frame, seals and fitting also matter. Good glass cannot correct air or water entering around the frame.
Glass for sun, noise and safety
Solar-control glass reduces solar heat entering through an exposed window. A low-emissivity coating reduces heat transfer but it does not necessarily provide the same solar-control result. The coating and pane build-up should be identified rather than described simply as energy-efficient glass.

The frame and fitting still matter
Changing the glass unit is different from fitting a complete new window. A new frame may be needed when the existing one is damaged, a different opening style is wanted or the frame and glass are being upgraded together.

A failed sealed glass unit
Misting between the panes means the sealed glass unit has failed. Moisture inside the cavity cannot be removed by cleaning either exposed surface. The old unit is replaced with a new sealed unit and the existing frame may remain if it is sound.
Replacing failed glass units forms part of the window repair service. Danny needs to inspect how the glass is held, any movement in the frame and any sign of water entering around the window.
Moisture on the room side
Condensation on the surface facing the room is different from moisture trapped between the panes. It forms when humid indoor air reaches a cold surface and does not prove that the sealed unit has failed.
Better glazing may keep the inner pane warmer and reduce this condensation. It does not remove moisture from the air, so ventilation remains important. Water on the outside surface also does not mean that moisture has entered the sealed unit.

Is triple glazing worthwhile on the Costa Blanca?
Triple glazing can reduce heat transfer but it also adds weight and cost. It is not automatically more useful here than a properly selected double-glazed unit. Exposure, frame capacity, solar control and shading all affect the choice. Triple glazing needs a clear benefit for the proposed installation.
What does Climalit mean?
Climalit is a brand of sealed glass unit rather than a full glass description. The name does not state the pane thicknesses, cavity width, coating or gas filling. Those details show what is being supplied.
For a replacement window, send a photograph of the complete opening and say which rooms are affected by heat, glare or noise. For misted glass, show the whole frame and say whether the moisture is between the panes or on an exposed surface.
