A flexible terrace enclosure
Glass curtains consist of separate panels that move along tracks and stack to one side. With the panels closed, a covered terrace or naya gains protection from wind and rain while retaining an open view. In warmer weather the panels can be moved away again.
They are different from framed replacement windows. Glass curtains are chosen for shelter and flexibility rather than the thermal insulation or airtight sealing of a conventional glazed room.
Where glass curtains work well
Common installations include covered nayas, balconies, apartment terraces and outdoor seating areas. The existing roof, columns and floor need to provide suitable support and a workable route for the tracks.
What the survey checks
Older structures are not always level or square. Accurate measurement is important because small variations affect how the panels travel and meet.
- Width, height and shape of the opening
- Support for the upper and lower tracks

- Drainage and exposure to wind
- Safe access for installation and cleaning
Using the space through the year
Closed panels can make a terrace more comfortable during windy or cooler weather. Orientation still matters. A south or west-facing enclosure may become hot in summer unless the panels can open widely and existing shading remains effective.
Permissions and community rules
Apartment owners should check whether the community permits changes to the external appearance. Local planning requirements can also depend on the property and proposed enclosure. The installation survey confirms physical suitability but does not provide legal approval.
